Washington state ranks ‘most competitive’ by wide margin for aerospace manufacturing

Independent researchers looked at 41 metrics in every state and D.C. and found Washington’s dense aerospace “supercluster” unmatched. Gov. Inslee, flanked by officials including King County Executive Dow Constantine, Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin, leaders of IAM and SPEEA, and the Choose Washington New Middle-of-the-Market Airplane (NMA) Council unveiled the Teal Group report at a press conference in the Aviation Maintenance Technology center at South Seattle College. Lead analyst Richard Aboulafia summarized the findings and took questions from the crowded audience.

This report helps us make the case that we are the best place in the world to build the NMA, but we can’t take anything for granted. We need to identify and pursue efforts to ensure that we maintain our competitive edge and remain the best place for aerospace for the foreseeable future.
