Eastern and central Washington wildfire donation coordination

State agencies, local governments, nonprofits, organizations and businesses are working closely to coordinate rapid response efforts to support Washingtonians in Chelan, Ferry, Okanogan, Spokane, Stevens and Yakima counties, as well as the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation, the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and the Spokane Tribe of Indians, as wildfires continue to burn. Governor Bob Ferguson and the Governor’s Office are collaborating with these partners to ensure unified action and support across affected communities.

Commerce is helping coordinate offers of donated goods and services from businesses and nonprofit organizations with the Spokane Emergency Operations Center and local governments responding to wildfires in Eastern Washington.

Services and supports for residents in impacted by the Spokane Complex Wildfire

• Sign up for ALERT Spokane to receive emergency alerts and evacuation notices.
• Check your address on the Spokane Regional Emergency Communications official evacuation map for the latest evacuation level.
• Visit Spokane Community Resources for information about local services and coordinated response efforts.
• Free Supplies available at Wildfire Relief Donation and Distribution Site for those impacted by wildfires. Pick up daily from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Follow all instructions from local emergency officials. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Wildfire Relief Donation and Distribution Site

Where: Northtown Mall, 4750 N Division St, Spokane, WA 99207

• Park on the upper deck of the mall parking garage to access the location between the old SEARS building and JC Penny, directly above Get Air Trampoline Park.
• The garage ramp accessible off E. Wellesley Avenue provides direct access to the location.

For organizations donating goods or services

If you are an organization wishing to make a donation, please submit a detailed message to community.engagement@commerce.wa.gov. Please be aware that Commerce is only facilitating donations. All information submitted is a public record and will be disclosed in a public records request (pursuant to Ch. 42.56 RCW). Please include the following information:

• The item or service being offered
• The quantity available, including unit, case or pallet counts
• Whether the items are new, unopened and unexpired, when applicable
• Where the donation is located and when it is available
• Whether delivery, transportation or unloading support is available
• A primary contact name, email address and phone number

Current priority needs

As of Aug. 19, basic self-care items are the immediate priority:

• Diapers (10,000 diapers every two weeks and over 1 million in the next six months)
• Bedding, blankets and pillows
• Bath towels (unused)
• Baby Formula and baby supplies (new)
• Basic hygiene supplies for men, women, children and babies
• Non-perishable food items
• Paper goods such as plates, disposable cups, paper towels and plastic silverware
• Toilet paper
• New kitchenware items (dishes, mugs, pots, pans glasses, plastic utensils or silverware)
• Pet food and pet care items
• Gift Cards 

Items NOT accepted

• new or used clothing
• new or used shoes
• appliances, furniture and toys

The Emergency Operations Center will share additional priority needs as local jurisdictions identify them. You can coordinate large-scale donations with Emergency Operations Center by contacting Commerce.

How donation coordination works?

• If you are an organization wishing to make a donation, please submit a detailed message to community.engagement@commerce.wa.gov.
• Commerce will work with the Spokane Emergency Operations Center’s donations coordinator and participating organizations.
• The Emergency Operations Center will work with local jurisdictions to identify community needs and distribute available items equitably.
• Donation availability and distribution information will be communicated to impacted communities as details are confirmed.
• The Emergency Operations Center is identifying warehouse space for longer-term storage of accepted donations.
