CRP is investing $8 million in community-based mentorship programs for youth and young adults ages 14–24 who are most impacted by violence, incarceration and barriers to opportunity.
Evaluation of proposals and funding recommendations will be led by Local Advisory Teams in partnership with trusted, philanthropic and by-and-for organizations.
What grant funding will offer
Over the next biennium, CRP will be funding violence prevention activities that include (but are not limited to):
- Trusted mentors from the community
- Helping with school, job training, and career planning
- Youth incentives and support for basic needs like transportation and food
- Cultural and healing-centered activities
- Recruiting and navigation for youth to get enrolled in education and employment services
2025-2027 Grant timeline
CRP’s violence prevention funding will be locally controlled and administered by Local Advisory Teams (LATs). Commerce will begin with a competitive funding opportunity to establish Local Advisory Teams, which is estimated to be released in late 2025.
The Local Advisory Teams will make funding recommendations, shifting decision making to the local level for local solutions
