Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Lael Duncan to chair the State Advisory Council on Homelessness. Duncan has served on the committee since 2006 and is also presently the Executive Director of the Okanogan Community Action Council, where she led the creation of the county’s 10 year plan to end homelessness.
“Lael will bring invaluable experience and energy to her new leadership role for the Council,” Gov. Inslee said. “She is committed to finding local solutions to homelessness that work for the whole of Washington State.”
The State Advisory Council on Homelessness is a 20-member Governor-appointed body that provides recommendations to the Governor and the Affordable Housing Advisory Board on improving the state’s response to homelessness. Members include representatives from state agencies, the Governor’s Office, private businesses, nonprofit organizations, public housing authorities, local and federal government, youth, and at least one member who is currently, or has been, homeless.
