El Programa de Reinversión Comunitaria (CRP) es una iniciativa diseñada por la comunidad para mejorar las comunidades afectadas de manera desproporcionada por la guerra contra las drogas. El objetivo es crear beneficios económicos duraderos, generar riqueza y garantizar que todos tengan una oportunidad justa de éxito.

CRP se asocia con organizaciones de todo el estado para apoyar el desarrollo económico, los servicios de reingreso, la asistencia legal y la prevención de la violencia. Se espera que genere hasta $ 1.6 mil millones en beneficios económicos para las comunidades específicas durante la próxima década.
En colaboración con socios comunitarios, el impacto de CRP incluye:
- Crear empleos en asociación con diversas pequeñas empresas
- Ofrecer programas de capacitación para satisfacer las necesidades de la fuerza laboral
- Mayores ingresos autosuficientes para que las personas mantengan a sus familias
- Ayudar a las personas a adquirir casas y comenzar nuevos negocios
- Aumentar la seguridad de nuestros vecindarios a través de proyectos dirigidos por la comunidad
Historia de la financiación del CRP
- $200 millones para el 1 de julio de 2023 – 30 de junio de 2025
- Se requirió que el Departamento de Comercio siguiera el Plan de Reinversión Comunitaria original para las inversiones de 2023 a 2025.

- Se ordena al Departamento de Comercio que distribuya fondos para las áreas del programa enumeradas en RCW 43.79.567: Cuenta de reinversión comunitaria, en proporciones similares a las áreas de inversión 2023-2025.
- La legislatura también definió las organizaciones por y para los fines de la CRP. Esto incluye, entre otros, aquellos operados por y para comunidades negras, latinas, nativas americanas, asiáticas, nativas de Hawái e isleñas del Pacífico.

Commerce, en asociación con la Oficina de Equidad de WA, trabajó con comunidades de todo el estado para desarrollar un Plan de Reinversión Comunitaria que establece recomendaciones sobre cómo se invertirían estos fondos durante el bienio 2023-2025 (1 de julio de 2023 – 30 de junio de 2025).
El Plan de Reinversión Comunitaria recomendó que el Departamento de Comercio distribuyera los $200 millones en todo el estado a través de más de 17 programas de subvenciones individuales. Algunos de los programas de subvenciones fueron expansiones de programas existentes. Algunos de los programas representan nuevas ideas, que requieren más tiempo y colaboración para implementarse.

En 2025, la legislatura asignó $50 millones de nuevos fondos para el CRP. El Departamento de Comercio no está obligado a seguir el Plan de Reinversión Comunitaria original, pero se le ordena distribuir fondos para las áreas del programa enumeradas en RCW 43.79.567: Cuenta de reinversión comunitaria, en proporciones similares a las áreas de inversión 2023-2025.
