The Tribal Electric Boats Program (TEBP), funded by the Climate Commitment Act, is awarding $5 million to tribes to support the electrification and hybridization of marine propulsion power for tribal fishing vessels, including boats for research and patrol activities. Grants include marine charging equipment needed to power the boats.
The program promotes tribal sovereignty, advances tribal goals for air quality improvement and climate change mitigation, and supports decarbonization of marine vessels for federally recognized tribal governments and tribal enterprises.

Join our review panel
We’re seeking tribal citizens and individuals with experience working directly with tribes — especially those passionate and knowledgeable about decarbonization, electric boats, tribal clean energy, and/or tribal fishing — to help review and evaluate applications for the Tribal Electric Boats Program. Priority is given to tribal citizens and affiliates.
Evaluation panel members must not communicate with applicants or potential applicants at any time during the evaluation process. Before joining the panel, members must sign a conflict of interest form, a bias form, and a confidentiality agreement.
Time commitment
Application reviewers should expect to dedicate 10-15 hours of time or more. Individuals selected to be on a review panel will receive up to $75 per hour. Compensation will be made via electronic gift card or direct deposit. Evaluators who are current WA state or federal government employees may serve as evaluators but may not receive compensation.
