Public meetings on Interbay armory site redevelopment scheduled for July 23 and 30

Interbay Public Development Advisory Committee invites public comments at next meeting July 23 and schedules third community open house for following week, July 30

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Commerce hosts the next Interbay Public Development Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday morning, July 23 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the National Guard armory site, 1601 West Armory Way, Seattle, WA 98119.  The public is invited to attend and provide comments or make brief presentations (no more than three minutes) at the end of the meeting.

Those who want to make presentations to the committee are asked to sign up on the project website at www.commerce.wa.gov/interbay, where the meeting agenda and other project information are also available.

Next community open house: July 30, Ballard VFW Hall

In addition to attending or following advisory committee meetings, the public can learn more and discuss development proposals at the next community open house on Tuesday evening, July 30, from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Ballard VFW Hall, 2812 NW Market St, Seattle, WA 98107.

This will be the third in a series of open houses intended to hear from and keep the public informed about the study on possible reuses for the current site of the Washington National Guard Armory in Seattle. Commerce is charged with convening the advisory committee, in collaboration with the Washington Military Department, to explore potential uses of the state-owned property in Seattle’s Ballard-Interbay manufacturing industrial center.

The advisory committee will make recommendations regarding the highest public benefit and future economic development uses for the Interbay site, and will make resource recommendations to assist the Washington National Guard in its possible relocation.

To date, the property is not for sale, and the Guard has made no decision on potential relocation sites. Working with the consultant team led by Maul Foster and Alongi, the committee is developing possible development scenarios for further review and public input. The final study and recommendations are due to the Washington Legislature by November 2019.
