Commerce announces new round of grant funding for the Forest Products Financial Assistance Program (FPFAP)

The Forest Products Financial Assistance Program (FPFAP) was established in 2014 with funds provided by the U.S. Forest Service. This program supports the development and expansion of forestry and agroforestry product industries in Washington state.

The program emphasizes use of woody biomass, defined as trees and woody plants that are by-products of forestry management activities and wood products manufacturing. These byproducts may provide thermal energy, electrical energy, engineered fuel products or energy efficiency improvements. Additional FPFAP goals include enhancing forest ecosystem function, reducing forest fire hazards and supporting resilience of rural, timber-dependent communities.

Commerce will release an official Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), and will start accepting applications by close of business on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

  • Please visit the FPFAP webpage to find links to all documents required as part of the application packet.
  • A bidders conference to assist with the application process will be held via Skype.

When: Thursday, Sept. 19. at 3 p.m.
