Food Waste Management Evaluation
In 2019 Commerce requested an evaluation of Washington state’s food waste and wasted food management system. This evaluation supports the development and adoption of a food waste diversion and wasted food reduction plan as required under HB 1114.
Cascadia Consulting Group, Inc. has completed the evaluation of Washington State’s excess food and food waste management system on behalf of the Department of Commerce and the Department of Ecology. The purpose of the evaluation is to support the food waste prevention plan being prepared by Ecology under HB 1114, which seeks to achieve the goal of reducing annual food waste in the state by 50% by 2030.
