What funding is available?
Commerce is releasing a new funding opportunity for new multifamily housing developers who are seeking funds to secure technical assistance for a future Housing Trust Fund (HTF) application, or funds to cover non-capital costs for a project preparing to apply for HTF funds in an upcoming HTF funding round. Approximately $2.9 million is now being made available through this Notice of Funding Availabilities (NOFA).
We are providing two options for funding use:
- Option A: Technical Assistance Funding. Up to $50,000 per project for nonprofit organization with limited previous rental housing development experience.
- Option B: Preconstruction Funding. Up to $200,000 per project to support non-capital design and planning work for multifamily rental projects.
Who is eligible?
- Local governments
- Local housing authorities
- Nonprofit community or neighborhood-based organizations
- Federally recognized Indian tribes in the state of Washington
- Regional or statewide nonprofit housing assistance organizations
Eligible organizations are also required to be:
- In compliance with the revenue and taxation laws, as applicable to the recipient, at the time the award is made
- Licensed to do business in the State of Washington OR a registered business with a Federally Recognized Tribe

MHU will hold a Pre-Proposal Conference on Monday, March 2 at 2:90 p.m. PT on Zoom.
