What funding is available?
The Department of Commerce (Commerce) is soliciting applications for Multifamily Rental affordable housing projects seeking capital funding from the state Rapid Capital Housing Acquisition (RCHA) program.
RCHA funds the acquisition of real property for a rapid conversion into:
- Enhanced emergency shelters
- Permanent supportive housing
- Transitional housing, permanent housing
- Youth housing, or
- Shelter for extremely low-income people, as well as individuals, families, unaccompanied youth, and young people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness
Who is eligible?
- Local governments
- Local housing authorities
- Nonprofit community or neighborhood-based organizations
- Federally recognized Indian tribes in the state of Washington
- Regional or statewide nonprofit housing assistance organizations
Eligible organizations are also required to be in compliance with applicable revenue and taxation laws at the time the award is made.
Training and resources
We invite applicants to attend our technical assistance office hours to ask questions and seek further clarification. Note that in each session, Commerce staff will provide an overview of the funding opportunity and application process, and respond to questions posed by attendees. Registration is required.

Applicants can access technical assistance April 15 through June 8. Applicants may also request waivers from certain NOFA requirements during this time.
