What funding is available?
Commerce is releasing funding opportunities for affordable multifamily housing operators and developers to preserve affordability in properties currently serving Washington communities. MHU has elected to offer up to $24,100,000 of the appropriated funds to projects already in the Housing Trust Fund portfolio (executed contract) and in need of funding to extend its useful life via this NOFA.
Who is eligible?
- Local governments
- Local housing authorities
- Nonprofit community or neighborhood-based organizations
- Federally recognized Indian tribes in the state of Washington
- Regional or statewide nonprofit housing assistance organizations
Housing Preservation funding is available to current Housing Trust Fund contractors that want to make major building improvements, preserve existing units, and replace systems to maintain long-term property viability.

How do I apply?
Please download and carefully review the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) linked below for specific information regarding funding requirements and priorities, the process for submitting an application, and dates of significance.
Applications are due to the Department of Commerce by 12 p.m, PT, Friday, April 17, 2026.
Award announcements are anticipated in June 2026.
