What funding is available?
Commerce is releasing funding opportunities for affordable multifamily housing operators and developers to preserve affordability in properties currently serving Washington communities. MHU has elected to offer up to $10,000,000 of the appropriated funds to projects that are at risk of losing affordability due to expiration of use restrictions via this NOFA. This includes projects that are exiting the HTF portfolio.
Who is eligible?
- Local governments
- Local housing authorities
- Nonprofit community or neighborhood-based organizations
- Federally recognized Indian tribes in the state of Washington
- Regional or statewide nonprofit housing assistance organizations
Continuing Affordability funding is available to any Washington affordable housing projects that are at risk of losing affordability.

Additionally, we invite applicants to attend two separate technical assistance office hours to ask questions and seek further clarification, to be held on Zoom. The links to register for office hours are below.

Please download and carefully review the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) linked below for specific information regarding funding requirements and priorities, the process for submitting an application, and dates of significance.
Applications are due to the Department of Commerce by 12 p.m, PT, Friday, April 17, 2026.
Award announcements are anticipated in June 2026.
