The mission of Growth Management Services (GMS) is to assist and guide local governments, state agencies, and others to manage growth and development, consistent with the Growth Management Act (GMA).
The Growth Management Act (GMA) requires that the fastest-growing cities and counties complete comprehensive plans and development regulations to guide future growth and, if necessary, revise their plans every ten years to ensure they remain up-to-date.
Growth Management Services provides direct assistance, grants, training, guidebooks and more to assist local governments in meeting the requirements of the GMA.
Need help? Local jurisdictions can refer to the Growth Management Staff Contact Information and Regional Assistance Map (PDF) to find and contact the regional planner assigned to their jurisdiction.
The GMA Regional Planning Variations Map (PDF) provides a breakdown, by county, of each jurisdiction’s responsibilities under the GMA.
