Contracting with Commerce

The Department of Commerce Office of Renewable Fuels is creating a new technical assistance program to support key users of clean hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels. Commerce is requesting input from the hydrogen industry, prospective hydrogen users in related industries, and the technical assistance vendor community to shape the development of the program, which is expected to have funding available through June 30, 2027.

Commerce is accepting pre-applications for $12.8 million in Dairy Digester grants. The program funds new construction, repairs, or upgrades to digesters at Washington dairies, including cover and flare projects. Pre-applications are optional but give applicants an early start and help shape the final application process.

Commerce is now accepting applications for clean energy projects that modernize the electric grid, enhance community resilience, and promote solar energy deployment. Approximately $32 million is available to public and private entities.

The Washington Grid Resilience Grant Program is now accepting applications to enhance the power grid’s resilience and reliability in Washington state. This initiative, authorized by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aims to support utilities in constructing projects that withstand natural disasters such as wildfires and extreme weather.

Commerce is now accepting applications for $4.85 million in Clean Energy Siting and Permitting (CESP) grants to help local governments and tribes improve the siting and permitting of clean energy projects across Washington state.

Commerce is accepting proposals through May 27 to identify multifamily affordable housing properties best suited for onsite solar installation through Solar for All funding.

The Tribal Electric Boats Program (TEBP) is awarding $5 million to tribes to support the electrification and hybridization of marine propulsion power for tribal fishing vessels and charging equipment.
