Funds will maintain affordability for 145 units across the state
The Washington State Department of Commerce awarded $15.6 million to three multifamily housing projects through its Continuing Affordability (CA) program. The funding will help 145 housing units maintain affordability. These projects were at risk of losing their affordability restrictions.
The projects are in rural areas in Snohomish, Okanogan and Pacific counties.
All three awards are in response to funding notice #MHU-2026-03, released in March. View the list of Continuing Affordability applications (PDF).
Awards in response to the Housing Preservation Program funding opportunity (#MHU-2026-04), which was also released in March, will be announced later this month. The state Legislature invested more than $728 million in the Washington State Housing Trust Fund in the 2025-2027 Capital Budget and 2026 Supplemental Budget. This funding increases the capacity of our housing partners to deliver thousands of new affordable housing units across every part of the state.
