At the Multifamily Housing Unit (MHU) of the Washington State Department of Commerce, we are committed to engaging with members of the affordable housing community to promote fair access to funding for capital projects.
This community includes current affordable multifamily housing developers, future developers, service providers, tenants, neighbors, tribes, advocates, analysts, and all others who support the creation of affordable housing opportunities across the state of Washington.
In the 2025-27 Capital Budget, Commerce received an appropriation of funds with instructions to offer them as grants for two purposes:
- to support preconstruction activities for affordable housing projects, and
- to help organizations pay for technical assistance to strengthen their affordable housing projects’ competitiveness in future capital funding rounds.
We have drafted a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) to communicate the details of this opportunity, including application requirements, timelines, and factors for review.
We are sharing this draft NOFA so those in the affordable housing community can review and provide comment.
