Rules Updated to Incorporate 2019 Legislation
The Washington Department of Commerce is updating administrative rules concerning the Energy Independence Act (also known as EIA or I-937) to incorporate changes enacted in 2019.
The Legislature amended the EIA as part of the Clean Energy Transformation Act (SB 5116) in sections 28 and 29. The amendments:
- Expand eligible incremental hydroelectric generation to include electric from projects marketed by the Bonneville Power Administration.
- Revise the definition of “renewable energy credit” and clarify eligible uses of these credits.
