Emergency Shelter Provides Safe Haven for Cowlitz County Residents
Last fall Commerce Housing Division staff person Paul Currington drove to Kelso to conduct an audio interview of one of the area's most important resources for individuals and families at risk of homelessness, The Community House on Broadway. This emergency shelter for homeless folks opened in 1987 with the purchase and renovation of an old historic hotel in Longview. Years later it has proved to be a place where people come to regain their strength, find direction and move toward more permanent housing. The following link will take you to Paul's interview with a client at the shelter. Listen to Patti as she shares her story of recovery.
