Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program is a partnership among federal, state, and local governments to create safer communities. The Drug Interdiction program is a JAG funded initiative approved by the Byrne JAG Advisory Committee (BJAC) and funded for implementation and maintenance through the Department of Commerce.
FFY 2005 funding is available to continue the narcotics control efforts of funded drug interdiction forces and to provide drug prosecution assistance. Eligible drug interdiction activities include the unified efforts among local jurisdictions to investigate and prosecute mid-to-upper level drug trafficking within their region. The unified drug interdiction efforts of drug interdiction organizations and personnel include the investigation, prosecution, and conviction of drug users, drug dealers, and mid-to-upper-level drug traffickers.
