We're pleased to release the 2012 Washington State Energy Strategy, the first comprehensive analysis since 1993. The 2012 Strategy addresses solutions for economic growth, jobs and climate change.
2010 legislation (E2SHB 2658) directed the revision of the energy strategy, Washington's comprehensive energy plan for meeting future energy needs, and declared it must meet three goals: Maintain competitive energy prices; foster a clean energy economy and jobs; and meet obligations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to the goals, nine principles guide the strategy. The Energy Strategy Update was released in December 2010 and the 2012 Energy Strategy (full revision) was submitted to Governor Gregoire and the Legislature December 9, 2011.
