The Evergreen Jobs Initiative established goals for Washington including the creation of 15,000 new green economy jobs by 2020. The initiative requires Commerce and the Workforce Training & Education Coordinating Board to co-chair the Evergreen Jobs Leadership Team. The Evergreen Jobs Leadership Team is responsible for fulfilling the goals of the Evergreen Jobs Act, including coordination of Washington's efforts to secure federal training funds for the green economy through the Governor's Recovery website.

The Evergreen Jobs Initiative brings business, labor, education, and government together to create fifteen thousand new green economy jobs by 2020 and capture and deploy Recovery Act funds for job creation in Washington’s renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors.
