The Evergreen Communities Act (ESSHB 2844) provides for the formation of an advisory panel, the Evergreen Communities Partnership Task Force, to aid and advise the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED) in the administration of its duties under Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 35.105. Section 17 of the Act guides the composition of the membership of the Task Force.
The mission of the Task Force is to assist CTED staff to:
-
develop model ordinance(s) suitable for use as a guide for jurisdictions of all configurations throughout the State as directed by the Act;
-
develop model urban forestry management plan(s) suitable for use as a guide for jurisdictions of all configurations throughout the State as directed by the Act; and
-
create an Evergreen Communities recognition program linked to the Tree City USA award program.
The Evergreen Communities Act provides for the Task Force to be disbanded at the discretion of the Department at the end of 2010, when the assessments conducted by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the model ordinances and management plans are completed.
