IPZ Designation Competitive Process

The director of Commerce must designate IPZs by October 1 of every odd-numbered year.  The 2009 application process closed on August 31, 2009.  The next round will be in 2011 with release of the competitive application is June/July 2011.

Why Apply?

Partnerships selected to receive IPZ designation become eligible for the following state financial programs:

 

Please note that although the Local Infrastructure Financing Tools Program (LIFT) was identified in legislation as an eligible program for IPZ’s, designation for LIFT awards is not available at this time.

Other benefits of receiving IPZ designation:

  • Marketing. The power of a brand.
  • Future funding potential. As the State places greater emphasis on regional economies, innovation, and cluster development, IPZs may be well-positioned for targeted funding.
  • Grant applications. Designation may give you a competitive advantage for federal funds or foundation grants.
  • Create a knowledge-economy in local regions.
