 HOME General Purpose (HOME GP)
 
The HOME GP program is one of numerous programs funded under the name of the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Program.  HOME Program funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  HOME Program funds are used to create and preserve single and multi-family housing and provide tenant-based rental assistance.
 
The HOME GP program provides funds to:
·        Acquire and/or rehabilitate and construct permanent, transitional and/or supportive 
         rental housing.
·        Preserve and/or develop manufactured housing communities
·        Projects funded will generally serve people at or below 50% of the local median income,
         with special targeting to people who are homeless or have special needs and have
         incomes at or below 30% of the local median income.
 
 Eligible Applicants
           
  • Local and tribal governments
  • Housing authorities
  • Non-profit housing developers

 

 Results and Achievements

 

  • HOME GP funds, totaling over $69 million, have preserved or increased the stock of affordable housing in Washington by 2,975 units from 1992 to 2005.
  • Investments to date have leveraged over $250 million in private and public sector support.
