2010 CDBG Planning-Only Grant Applications Available in February 2010
The Washington State CDBG program will make Planning-Only Grant application handbooks available in February 2010 and begin accepting applications in March 2010. Applications are accepted throughout the year on a funds available basis. Planning-Only Grants can fund infrastructure system plans, capital facility plans, community facility feasibility reports, affordable housing assessments and other priority plans from rural (non-entitlement) local governments. CDBG Recovery Grants Awarded and Projects Underway
The Washington State Department of Commerce has awarded nearly $4 million in recovery grants to 6 rural communities across the state through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. These construction projects were selected from 41 applications and approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). They create jobs, promote energy efficiency in essential public and community facilities, and lay the foundation for stronger local economies. For more info on the projects funded, click below:

The 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan and 2010 Action Plan Submitted to HUD
This 5-year plan determines priorities, establishes strategic goals, and allocates resources for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funded programs administered by the state, namely: the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG), and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs. Commerce’s 5-Year Consolidated Plan and 2010 Action Plan for Use of HUD Funds
The Consolidated Plan determines priorities, establishes strategic goals, and allocates resources for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funded programs administered by the state, namely: the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG), and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs.
The required elements of the state’s Consolidated Plan include:
An assessment of housing and community development needs for the ensuing five-year period;
An analysis of the state’s housing markets;
A discussion of the state’s strategies, priority needs, and objectives for housing and community development activities; and,
An action plan that describes the state’s method for distribution of 2010 funds expected to be received from HUD.
