The Department of Commerce supports people with developmental disabilities through the two organizations below.
The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council's
(DDC) mission is to advocate, promote and implement policies and practices to create pathways to meaningful, integrated and productive lives for people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities over the life course.
DDC is a separate agency that is housed administratively within the Community Services Division of Commerce.
The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Endowment Trust Fund (DDETF) was created by the Legislature to help families and advocates save money for the life-long need that their loved ones with developmental disabilities have for supports, while protecting the public benefits that they are entitled to use.
DDETF is governed by a board and housed administratively within the Community Services Division of Commerce.
